Betsie's Story
Life
I moved to California in 1977 and then lived in a few different states. Started to work at the Post Office in 1982, with one child, then had 2 more.
Union activist in San Diego, while working as a mailman (it's only a job title). Moved to Houston in 1991 and later went back to work in the Post Office. I am still very active in the Union and love being a Mailman.
Bought my first Harley (2005 Softail Deluxe) Sept 2004 and have begun to really enjoy life now that all 3 of my kids are grown and out of the house.
Looking forward to connecting with my schoolmates and other letter carriers from San Diego NALC Branch 70.

Workplace
I started to work at the Post Office in 1982 as a Letter Carrier in San Diego. I became a Shop Steward and found what I really enjoy doing - beating up management. We all know how they are.
I moved to Texas, work at the Spring Main Post Office and am a union activist. I love the work that I do for the union and look forward to many years ahead serving the members.
In 2003, I was elected as the Treasurer of the Texas State Association of Letter Carriers and have held the office for 3 terms without any one else running against me. Now that I am retired, I will not seek re-election and will be riding my horse off into the sunset.
